First, a note on sigils: generally, sigils are visual symbols; however, one can create a verbal sigil that is quite effective. Many folks who utilize this method classify it under the term “chaos magick.” In order to avoid fears some people feel when faced with a term like “chaos magick,” I refer to this practice as energized meditation.
Let’s say you have the following four goals: 1: smoking cessation; 2: attaining or maintaining stable housing; 3: building satisfying relationships with others; 4: calmly solving challenges.
When building your practice of energized meditation, it is useful to learn to focus on your breathing. First, find a comfortable position, many prefer seated. Inhale slowly, feeling the air fill the lungs from the bottom to the top. Exhale, feeling all the stressors of the day leave your body, your mind, your very being. Repeat this action for two minutes. As you breathe, gently notice the progressive relaxation of your muscles with each exhale. Notice the ease with which you can simply be.
Now, breathing calmly. close your eyelids and look upward .allow yourself to notice what you feel. Empty your mind of thought. That bit, not thinking, can take some practice to get used to.
Give yourself to this feeling of just being. With the tip of your tongue, lightly press the forward part of your mouth’s roof. Focus awareness on what the lightness of your being allows. Keep breathing normally in this way, counting down from thirty to zero, feeling the relaxation from the crown of your head, down through your head, to your neck and shoulders and into the chest. Feel your breath and the rhythmic pulse of your heart as those functions serve to regulate the function of your body as it gets in tune with your mind. Continue slowly, through your trunk and into the pelvis and hips. All the muscles begin to enjoy their unity with your being.
Allow yourself to relax your thighs, your knees and your calves. As your attention moves toward your feet. you can visualize a beam of light, tinted in whatever color you choose. You are growing from inside into this feeling.
Now open your eyes and you can begin designing your focused energetic symbol of the life you are choosing.
Take the first two letters of each goal, action or accomplishment and write them down:
sm for smoking cessation
ho for housing
sa for relationships
ch for facing challenges
Reorganize these letters into a pronounceable word. in my own example, “cahomsha”
Say that word aloud.
Forget each goal completely. Allow yourself a moment.
Inhale slowly, noticing the bloom of your new life expanding within you.
Exhale.
After you have completed this action, relax your body and mind.
In practicing this energized meditation, you need not do anything special, just notice the unity of your existence. You are becoming.

When you have reached zero, repeat your sigil aloud. Your subconscious mind is now working together with your body in the you that you are becoming.
Do this once a day, and sometimes you may wish to do more. I can’t stop you.
I do this while riding on light rail trains. No one has ever given me even a strange look when I open my eyes and repeat my sigil.
